Outdoor LED displays are often designed as large rectangular screens. However, for projects that need stronger visual impact, a standard flat display may not be enough.
For this project in Korea, the customer needed an outdoor LED display that could attract attention from different directions and also become part of the surrounding environment.

After discussing the outdoor application and viewing requirements, a P5 outdoor LED ball screen with a ground-mounted structure was selected.
Compared with a traditional LED billboard, the spherical shape provides a 360-degree display surface. People approaching the installation from different directions can see the content without having to stand directly in front of the screen.
The result is not only an advertising display, but also a distinctive visual feature for the outdoor space.
Choosing the right pixel pitch is an important step in any outdoor LED project.
A smaller pixel pitch can provide higher resolution, but it also increases the number of LED pixels and the overall project cost. For an outdoor sphere that is mainly viewed from a certain distance, extremely fine pixel pitch is not always necessary.
For this Korean project, P5 offered a practical balance.
With a 5 mm pixel pitch, the screen can clearly present promotional videos, logos, animations and other digital content while remaining suitable for outdoor viewing distances.
Brightness was another important factor.
Outdoor LED displays need to remain visible when ambient light is strong. TOOSEN outdoor spherical LED displays can provide brightness of 5,000 cd/m² or higher, helping the content remain clear during daytime operation.
The display also supports a refresh rate of 3840Hz or higher, allowing videos and animations to play smoothly and helping reduce visible scan lines when visitors photograph or record the screen.
The LED ball screen in this project uses a ground-mounted installation structure.
Unlike a suspended spherical LED display, the screen does not require an overhead hanging system. Instead, the sphere is supported from the bottom through a customized structural base.
This installation method is suitable for many outdoor locations, including commercial plazas, tourist attractions, building entrances, exhibition areas and public spaces.
For a ground-mounted outdoor sphere, the support structure is an important part of the complete project.
The weight of the display, sphere diameter, installation environment and local wind conditions all need to be considered when planning the supporting structure. The base also needs to keep the sphere stable while maintaining the clean appearance of the finished installation.
Because each spherical LED project can have different dimensions and site conditions, the supporting structure should be designed according to the actual project rather than using one standard solution for every installation.
Building a sphere is very different from installing a conventional flat LED wall.
A normal LED wall is assembled from rectangular cabinets on a flat plane. A spherical LED screen requires specially arranged LED modules and a customized internal structure to create a continuous curved surface.
For this project, the LED modules were positioned around the spherical frame so that the complete screen maintained its round shape.
Module alignment is particularly important.
If the gaps or angles between sections are not properly controlled, lines and moving images may appear disconnected when content moves around the sphere.
Careful structural design and module positioning help create smoother transitions across the display surface and improve the overall visual effect.
Since the screen is installed outdoors in Korea, environmental protection was considered throughout the project.
Outdoor LED displays may face rain, humidity, direct sunlight and changing temperatures. The LED modules, power system, signal connections and supporting structure therefore need to be suitable for long-term outdoor operation.
High brightness also helps the display adapt to changing outdoor light conditions.
During the daytime, the screen needs enough brightness to maintain visibility. At night, the brightness can be adjusted according to the surrounding environment to provide a comfortable viewing experience.
These factors are especially important for an outdoor LED sphere because the display may operate for long periods as part of a permanent installation.
The main advantage of an LED ball screen is not simply its unusual shape. Its 360-degree viewing surface also changes the way content can be presented.
A conventional outdoor LED billboard normally has one main viewing direction. A spherical screen can attract viewers from multiple sides.
For the Korean project, this means visitors can see the display while approaching or walking around the installation.
Content preparation is also important.
Standard 16:9 videos are originally designed for flat screens. If they are directly applied to a sphere without adjustment, some elements may appear stretched or distorted.
Content designed for a spherical surface can produce a much better result.
Rotating logos, particles, abstract animations, global graphics and large visual elements are particularly suitable for an LED sphere. These types of content can move naturally around the surface and make better use of the screen's 360-degree structure.
Before shipment, the P5 spherical LED display was assembled and tested.
The testing process included checking the LED modules, signal transmission, power system, brightness consistency, color performance and video playback.
The spherical structure and connection points were also checked to make sure the different sections could be assembled correctly during installation.
Pre-delivery testing is particularly important for overseas LED projects.
Finding and correcting potential problems at the factory can reduce unnecessary adjustments after the equipment arrives at the project site. It also helps make the final installation process more efficient.
After testing was completed, the screen sections and related components were prepared for transportation to Korea.
The completed ground-mounted P5 outdoor LED ball screen combines digital advertising with a creative architectural form.
Instead of presenting content from only one direction, the spherical screen provides a 360-degree visual experience. Its P5 pixel pitch offers a practical solution for outdoor viewing, while high brightness supports clear content visibility during daytime use.
The ground-mounted structure also allows the sphere to become a recognizable feature of the surrounding space.
Whether it is displaying branded content, animations, promotional videos or creative visual effects, the screen can attract attention even before viewers stand directly in front of it.
